What is it?The Practice is one of my favorite things about Anusara Yoga®. Practicing together like this really crystallizes the place that community holds in our method - we work together, we grow together. Simple as that. We start off with sun salutes and standing poses and move toward a focus, as in back bends, or hip openers. We include arm balances and inversions in every session. Intermediate and advanced poses are offered as the session progresses. To be clear - the higher level poses are offered in the spirit of joyful expansion - you don't need to have a fancy practice, or be able to "do" fancy poses, and all levels of committed student are encouraged to join us. It isn't for the faint of heart, either - it is three hours of yoga. Some familiarity with the Anusara approach is strongly encouraged, and a working knowledge of and respect for your own limitations is a must. This is led rather than taught, and students may need to self modify. However, assistance will be available when needed - just ask. Most importantly, we will rest in Anusara Yoga's first principle, Open to Grace. We use a modification of John Friend's the eye of the Tiger sequence as a template. The wide variety of poses offers a deep well of insight into the Universal Principles of Alignment™ of Anusara Yoga®. The open, mutually supportive environment naturally fosters the sweet spirit of Kula, or community. We will laugh a lot. We will leave feeling amazing. And tired. Can't wait to see you - A
