What is The Practice

Next Gathering April 4th 2010 1-4pm - see below

The practice is awesome. Practicing together like this really crystallizes the place that community holds in the Anusara method. We work together, we grow together. Simple as that.

It's not for the faint of heart, mind you. It is three hours of yoga. It starts off easily enough, but intermediate and advanced poses are offered as the session progresses.

To be clear - the higher level poses are offered in the spirit of joyful expansion - you don't need to have a fancy practice, or be able to "do" fancy poses, and all levels of committed student are encouraged to join us. Some familiarity with the Anusara approach is strongly encouraged, and a working knowledge of and respect for your own limitations is a must. This is led rather than taught, and students may need to self modify. However, assistance will be available when needed - just ask. Most importantly, we will rest in Anusara Yoga's first principle, Open to Grace.

We use a modification of John Friend's the eye of the Tiger sequence as a template. The wide variety of poses offers a deep well of insight into the Universal Principles of Alignment™ of Anusara Yoga®. The open, mutually supportive environment naturally fosters the sweet spirit of Kula, or community.

We will laugh a lot. We will leave feeling amazing. And tired.

We will be holding the practice in Portland on Sunday, April 4th, 2010 1-4pm, location to-be-announced. It isn't a bad idea to reserve you spot in advance.
